Unemployment in the UK fell to its lowest level in six years, indicating continued strength in the labour market, new figures have shown.

The jobless rate based on International Labor Organization methods dropped from 6.4 per cent to 6.2 per cent in the three months through July — a bigger drop than analysts had predicted.
