Candidates in Browne’s line of fire
Some time very early in the Troubles, I can’t remember the exact date, there was consternation in the newsroom of the Irish Press group of newspapers. Vincent Browne, the group’s northern editor, had been arrested in Belfast by the RUC and charged with possession of a sub-machine gun that had been given to him by the IRA on the Falls Road.
