Tullow ends drilling in French Guiana well

The drilling encountered oil but not in sufficient quantities to make it commercially viable, Tullow said.

Tullow Oil, reacting to speculation by French media, has confirmed it has ended drilling of the Zaedyus-2 appraisal well offshore French Guiana but said it would continue exploration in this area.

While the drilling did find some oil, it was not in sufficient quantities at this location, Tullow said.

The well, one of four in this area, was a "wildcat well", which means it was not regarded as a top prospect for oil discovery.
