Trouble filling non-consultant posts

One in every 20 non-consultant hospital doctor (NCHD) posts will be empty this summer, according to new figures from the Irish Medical Organisation (IMO).

One in every 20 non-consultant hospital doctor (NCHD) posts will be empty this summer, according to new figures from the Irish Medical Organisation (IMO).

The IMO said some 209 posts will be unfilled this summer, due to an exodus of graduates overseas. The vast majority of the new vacancies are registrar posts, meaning they are more experienced doctors in training.
