Trips to Ireland increase 5% in last quarter of 2012

The total number of trips to Ireland increased by 5 per cent to 1,438,000 in the period between the start of October and the end of December 2012.

Transport minister Leo Varadkar said that a range of factors should help overall tourism performance in the year ahead.

The total number of trips to Ireland increased by 5 per cent to 1,438,000 in the period between the start of October and the end of December 2012.

The latest data on travel to and from Ireland, released by the Central Statistics Office today, showed an overall increase of 68,300 compared to the same period twelve months earlier.
