When a female pig arrived at Margaret O'Farrell and Alfie McCarthy's farm in north Tipperary, piglets soon followed.

Margaret O'Farrell and Alfie McCarthy are pretty confident about the quality of the free-range pork they produce on their farm in north Tipperary, and with good reason.

The pair swapped Dublin for the countryside in 2003 and, after a few years renovating their new home, they acquired three saddleback pigs, all male.

When a female pig arrived, piglets soon followed, and what was initially supposed to be a sideline that would supply food for O'Farrell, McCarthy...
