Trichet: Irish authorities knew they needed help.

Jean-Claude Trichet, the former European Central Bank President at the centre of a storm last week over his correspondence with the Irish government pre-bailout, told CNN the Irish authorities knew they needed help.

"I think the overall sentiment of all the responsible persons in Ireland, those that were at the helm, was that they were really needing some help in terms of help of the IMF and other Europeans," Trichet said*.
