It’s been a long, not very hot summer for football fans, but they can take solace in the fact that the wait is almost over. The FA Community Shield, the traditional curtain-raiser for the season, takes place today at Wembley, when league winners Manchester United take on FA Cup winners Chelsea.
It is less than a week until this Saturday’s kick-off of the new Premier League season.
