Trade unions plan to put pensions and home repossessions at the top of the agenda for 2009 when the social partners meet early in the new year.

The unions will ask the government to pressure banks to extend a reprieve for home repossessions for 18 months and to protect occupational pensions from collapse.

The talks between the government, unions and employers are due to take place in the second week of January.
