Toyota recalls Prius models after glitch

Toyota is recalling all Prius models built between August 2003 and March 1, 2005, due to a glitch in an internal computer programme that can cause the petrol engine to shut off, leaving the car powered by its electric motor only.

Toyota is recalling all Prius models built between August 2003 and March 1, 2005, due to a glitch in an internal computer programme that can cause the petrol engine to shut off, leaving the car powered by its electric motor only. The recall involves about 75,000 cars in the US and 70,000 in Japan alone. A small number of incidents have been reported by drivers. The repairs are being undertaken free of charge byToyota dealers.
