The devastation and loss of life caused by last Sunday's Indian Ocean tsunami has not prevented tourists from resuming their holidays.

On the south-west coast of Thailand, where beaches are still being searched for bodies, the sun umbrellas are up, tourists are swimming and trade has resumed.

In places that escaped serious damage, life is returning to normal, with traffic jamming the streets and nightclubs, restaurants and hotels reopening.
