Tourism sector welcomes 4% lift in 2012

The number of overseas holidaymakers visiting Ireland grew nearly four per cent in 2012, a statistic that's been welcomed by Tourism Ireland as an encouraging sign.

The number of overseas holidaymakers visiting Ireland grew nearly four per cent in 2012, a statistic that's been welcomed by Tourism Ireland as an encouraging sign.

The growth was driven by a strong performance from France and Germany, and there was also by a 7.7 per cent jump in business visitors, figures from the Central Statistics Office showed today.
