Tourism numbers rise 7% to 8 million in 2013

Eight million visitors came to Ireland during 2013, a rise of 7 per cent compared to last year, according to Tourism Ireland.

Eight million visitors came to Ireland during 2013, a rise of 7 per cent compared to last year, according to Tourism Ireland.

The industry contributed €3.64 billion in revenue to the economy this year, with the Gathering providing increased international exposure, the state agency said. Growth has come from all market areas, with the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Spain and Australia turning in record performances, it said.
