Last Thursday, a report by the Independent Tax Reform Commission, a policy body established by George Osborn, the shadow chancellor, and led by the Tory Peer, Lord Forsyth, was accidentally uploaded onto the Conservative Party website and downloaded by the Labour Party before the Tories had a chance to take it down again.

The bungled launch may have only occurred a day before the report’s authors intended, but it’s much easier to present stg£21 billion...
