**Inside Llewyn Davis**. The Coen brothers make a minor masterpiece out of their story of Llewyn Davis, a young folk singer struggling to earn a crust in the Greenwich Village scene in 1961.

Guitar in tow, Davis (well played by Oscar Isaac), crashes on couches, mishandles friends' cats and laments a life where his songwriting royalties won't even buy him a winter coat.
