Pat Leahy writes (16/5/10) that just 4 per cent of taxpayers pay half of all income tax collected. He implies that the tax system is the problem.

But surely the problem here is the huge disparity in wages? Four per cent of workers earn vast multiples of the income of low earners and, by default, pay vast multiples in taxes.
