Top cancer specialist received €150,000 top-up at Tallaght

Hiqa has called for greater transparency in spending taxpayers' money, following a critical report on patient care, writes Susan Mitchell.

Professor Kevin Conlon was the individual paid a top-up of more than €150,000 on his existing salary by Tallaght Hospital, The Sunday Business Post has learned.

Conlon, a leading specialist in pancreatic cancer, was appointed chief executive-designate of the Dublin hospital in December 2009. He was also a practising clinician and chair of surgery, a post he still holds.
