When IrishTV launches on May 1, it will be a long-awaited day for Mairead Ni­ Mhaoilchiarain and Pierce O'Reilly.

Billed as Ireland's first international TV channel covering local stories for a global audience, IrishTV is a project that has been six years in the making. The idea is simple - local stories, filmed and broadcast in Ireland and aimed at an international audience of emigrants and the broader diaspora.
