Public patients are waiting up to two-and-a-half years to get diagnostic MRI scans, new figures show. Figures provided by the HSE show that public patients in the MidWest are waiting ''30 months for an MRI scan.

An MRI scan can be used to investigate almost any part of the body, including the brain and spinal cord, bones and joints, breasts, heart and blood vessels and internal organs, such as the liver.
