Although technically an adaptation of Euripides’ 428BC drama Hippolytus, Phaedra’s Love is undeniably the work of British playwright Sarah Kane. Here the governing structures of ancient Greece are scorched by Kane’s dark, nihilistic imagination.

The mythic tragic tale of a woman consumed by love becomes a grotesque parody of contemporary sexuality and celebrity culture.
