It helps that the temperature inside the Gate Theatre these weeks feels like every one of the "100 degrees" that smothers the New Orleans neighbourhood at the centre of A Streetcar Named Desire. Lee Savage's exactingly appointed set - complete with screen door, ceiling fan, open shutters, 1940s icebox - feels more at home in the warmth of summer.
