The company secretary is responsible for the efficient administration of a company, particularly with regard to ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and the recording and implementation of decisions taken by the board.

The role of company secretary requires a specific skill set of knowledge and relevant experience. Many company secretaries will hold a qualification from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) or may have undertaken formal training for the role.
