Aalst is the name of a provincial town in Flanders where two notorious murders were committed in 1999.A married couple alternately suffocated and stabbed to death their two young children in a hotel room. Surviving their own subsequent suicide attempts, the parents wound up at the centre of a media frenzy and a disturbing trial.
