The man behind Kitty
Brian Loughney launched Kitty O'Shea's pub in Dublin in 1981 -now he has a chain of nine pubs of that name across Europe and has done a deal to go global.
Brian Loughney is proud to share his surname with the Irish pilot who brought General Humbert and his French troops ashore at Killala in Co Mayo, when they arrived to help the Irish revolutionaries in 1798.
The Mayo publican explains how he and his brother Kevin returned the favour by taking Ireland's most exportable enterprise, the Irish pub, to France. He opened Kitty O'Shea's in Paris the first Irish pub in continental Europe in 1986.
