Partly serialised in the US journal The Little Review 1918–1920, the first US edition of Ulysses in its entirety didn’t appear until 1934, published by Random Books. The Eclectic Collector sale offers a copy of that first edition, signed on the title page by Joyce (€1,500-€2,000).

Rarer still is a 1770, first Irish edition of Oliver Goldsmith’s masterpiece The Deserted Village; the 11 examples known to exist are all in important institutions...
