The Dell effect begins to wane

It’s been a tough year at Dell, the world’s largest seller of personal computers, and last week it got even more difficult.

The company announced that it was recalling 4.1 million notebook computer batteries as film footage distributed on the internet showed one of its products bursting into flames.
