The Fine Gael backbenchers finally trooped out of last Thursday’s parliamentary party meeting after five hours, solemnly chorusing that Enda was their leader and that he would not be moved. Earlier in the day, their leader had told us that he would be ‘‘more himself’’ from now on, so one wondered just who else he had been down the years?
Perhaps, in the circumstances, the backbenchers might have ended...
