Tests confirm horse DNA in Silvercrest burgers

UPDATE: "We will get to the bottom of it, we're making good progress," said Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney.

New laboratory results have indicated the presence of horse DNA in nine of 13 samples of burgers from the Silvercrest plant, the Department of Agriculture has said.

The company has temporarily suspended all production at the plant.

All ingredients sourced from Irish suppliers tested negative, the Department of Agriculture said.
