Tesco, the troubled British grocery leader, reported UK earnings that beat analyst estimates as it revamped its business in that market.
Operating profit in the UK and Ireland fell 69 per cent to £166 million (€225 million) excluding one-time adjustments in the six months to August 29, the Cheshunt-based grocer said. The median estimate of 12 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg News was £130.5 million.
