Tesco seeks over €40m for Golden Island

Golden Island, the 45-unit jewel in Athlone’s retail crown, has been put on the market by its owner Tesco for in excess of €40 million through agent TWM.

The shopping centre, which was built in 1996, was bought out by Tesco a decade ago. The British supermarket chain is one of two main anchor stores within the 14,306 square metre mall, the other of which is Penneys. Other stores in the busy shopping centre include Boots, Argos, Lifestyle, Elverys, Holland and Barrett, Claires, Specsavers and Dealz. The Penneys and Lifestyle units are owner occupied and not included in the sale.
