Three Ireland seals the deal on O2

Three Ireland finally completed its takeover of O2 last week. The deal, which was approved by the European Commission, saw Three pay €850 million for the rival network.

The purchase makes Three the second largest provider in the mobile market, behind Vodafone, with an approximate share of 40 per cent. The confirmation of the deal follows Three announcing deals with Carphone Warehouse and UPC to support mobile offerings.
