Demand for science and engineering courses on rise

Given the week that's in it, let's start with the Leaving Cert. Interest in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) courses is up across the board, backed by a 27 per cent increase in the number of students taking honours maths and an 11.3 per cent increase in physics. Applications for computing courses are up 31 per cent, while first preference applications for science courses rose by 8 per cent.
