The number of Irish technology companies that went out of business almost halved last year, indicating that the sector has stabilised after the dotcom boom and bust.

Figures from business consultants Farrell Grant Sparks (FGS) show that 17 technology companies collapsed last year, compared with 32 for 2005.

The figures include Irish technology companies that went into liquidation, examinership or receivership during the year.
