Teaming up lamb and wine

Ribera del Duero winemakers love their lamb. Through their Lamb Roasters Guild, each winery competes to produce the best lamb, which in turn matches their best wine.

In Spain visiting the wineries recently I felt akin to the Queen of England turning up to a new engagement and imagining the whole world smells of new paint. For awhile I imagined the whole world could smell of roasting lamb, as the scent hit my nostrils again and again.

‘‘We do a fantastic lamb,” says a winery guide as we head towards the cellar. I wonder aloud about a strange piece of wine-making hardware....
