Teachers' union calls for more consultation on VEC reforms

The Teachers' Union of Ireland (TUI) has called on the Minister for Education to involve the teachers' unions in the proposed amalgamation of Vocational Education Committees.

The Teachers' Union of Ireland (TUI) has called on the Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn, to involve the teachers' unions in the proposed amalgamation of Vocational Education Committees (VECs). The changes are expected to be implemented in the autumn.

TUI general secretary John MacGabhann said the union believed it was entitled to be involved in the discussions on the impending legislative changes to the committees.
