Christopher Kinahan, the alleged drug boss arrested in Spain last week, had his costs covered by the taxpayer when he sued the state ten years ago.

Kinahan, 53, went to the High Court and the Supreme Court in his action against the Minister for Justice, the Governor of Portlaoise Prison and the state after he was turned down for temporary release.
