Ireland’s tax freedom day, the point in the year when people theoretically stop working for the exchequer and start earning for themselves, falls today.

Tax freedom day is calculated using government figures and is a measure of Ireland’s tax burden - the later in the year it is, the bigger the government’s tax take.

The March 30 date was calculated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI)....
