Self-employed workers will not be able to get tax clearance certificates if they do not pay the new property tax, it has emerged.
The Revenue has been granted authority to veto tax clearance certificates for individuals who are found not to have the paid the new tax. The move places increased pressure on self-employed workers to comply with the tax, as withdrawing their tax clearance cert could severely restrict their ability to trade.
