Pensioners who are earning high salaries in the private sector could lose their PRSI and health levy exemptions in next December’s budget.

Government sources said that specific tax benefits of high-salaried pensioners may be targeted for savings in the budget.

Consideration is being given to withdrawing the exemption on PRSI and health levy contribution for pensioners earning above a certain amount in the private sector.
