Today’s meeting comes after a busy period in German-Irish bilateral relations.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny is to meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin later this morning but there will be no decision on Ireland’s debt mountain.

The visit forms part of the government’s preparations for Ireland’s EU Presidency, which starts on 1 January 2013. The discussions between the Taoiseach and the Chancellor are expected to address the Government’s priorities for the presidency but the two leaders will also discuss Ireland’s progress in its bailout...
