Taoiseach says Ireland can sign up to G8 tax evasion pact

The Group of 8 leaders last night announced significant new commitments to tackle tax evasion and avoidance by multinational companies.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny, who attended parts of the G8 summit, said he will support the tax evasion commitments that emerged.

The Group of 8 leaders last night announced significant new commitments to tackle tax evasion and avoidance by multinational companies.

The new new commitments came at the end of a summit in Lough Erne and addresses tax erosion and profit sharing.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny, who attended parts of the summit, said he will support the commitments, pointing out that there was nothing in them about tax harmonisation, something the government has resisted at EU level.
