Savers should be encouraged to invest in SMEs

The newly-elected president of one of Ireland's accountancy bodies is calling on the government to overhaul the existing Employment & Investment (EII) Scheme, to give the country's small businesses improved access to much-needed funding.

Cormac Fitzgerald, president of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland (CPA Ireland), said the scheme could be amended to better suit the needs of cash-hungry SMEs around the country.
