The Irish Takeover Panel is seeking new powers which would make it a criminal offence to mislead it during investigations into takeovers.

The Irish Takeover Panel is seeking new powers which would make it a criminal offence to mislead it during investigations into takeovers.

The mergers watchdog also wants new powers to allow it to take evidence from outside the state. It wants the power to require that information be provided in the form of an affidavit.

The panel believes this is necessary following experiences in the last year.
