The Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) will reveal new figures in its pre-budget submission to government showing calls for assistance increased by up to 30 per cent in some regions this year.
The society’s 2010 pre-budget submission, to be announced on Tuesday, will show one in four calls in the Dublin area were made by first-time callers. It expects new requests for assistance to continue in 2010.
