Those retailers who opened their doors to bargain hunting shoppers yesterday had their busiest day of post-Christmas sales in six years. But bargain hunters should know their rights.

Those retailers who opened their doors to bargain hunting shoppers yesterday had their busiest day of post-Christmas sales in six years, according to Retail Excellence Ireland.

Some retailers reported St Stephen’s Day sales that were at least 20 per cent higher than the same day last year.

Just before Christmas, the industry group said that spending on Christmas shopping was down as customers were being cautious and keeping their cash for the sales.
