The US police officer who shot and killed Dubliner Andrew Hanlon last week is to receive counselling for emotional trauma.
Rick Lewis, chief of police in Silverton in Oregon, confirmed Tony Gonzalez, who shot Hanlon, would receive counselling. ‘‘The officer has experienced a very traumatic incident as well. The taking of a life is very difficult to deal with emotionally,’’ Lewis said.
