The new owners of Superquinn expect to submit planning applications for the redevelopment of some of its stores within the next six months.
Chairman Simon Burke said the supermarket chain would hope to start redeveloping its stores towards the end of next year and open at least two new supermarkets a year from 2007.
Around half of the retailer's property portfolio comprises low-built stores in residential areas, which have enormous redevelopment potential.
