Superquinn buys Montrose Hotel for over €40m
The owners of the Superquinn supermarket chain have agreed to buy the Montrose Hotel in Stillorgan, Co Dublin, from Jurys Doyle for more than €40 million.
Select Retail Holdings (SRH), which bought Superquinn in August 2005, plans to demolish the Montrose and build a new supermarket on the site, with apartments above.
The deal to purchase the hotel from the Jurys Doyle hotel group – of which Bernie Gallagher has been the public face since it was taken private – is expected to be completed shortly. New two-bedroom apartments in the area are currently selling for over €500,000.
