World powers were yesterday considering military action in Libya at an emergency summit in Paris, as incursions by government forces in the rebel held city of Benghazi worsened.

A ceasefire was announced by the Libyan government last Friday, in a bid to fend off international military intervention following the previous day’s resolution by the UN security council to impose a no-fly zone over the north African country.
