Bernard Loughran's car rental business has undergone many changes over the years, but experience has allowed it to thrive, writes Siobhán Brett.

The story of Bernard Loughran's family business is "interesting", by his own admission. Now trading under the name Sixt, the Loughrans' car rental business is more than 60 years old.

"The business was initially set up in the 1950s as County Car Rental by my parents, who both came from farming backgrounds," said Loughran. "Both my mother and my father had a very strong work ethic and something I would describe as a 'survival instinct'.
